Shorten Your Clients’ Psychiatry Wait Times to 1-4 Weeks

Board-certified Harvard psychiatrist accepting referrals from Massachusetts therapists

Are you a therapist whose clients are facing 3-6 month wait times for psychiatry appointments? You’re not alone. The shortage of psychiatric providers in Boston and across Massachusetts has created a crisis that impacts both you and your clients.

The Problem: Long Wait Times Are Hurting Your Clients

As a therapist, you’ve likely experienced the frustration of watching your clients struggle while waiting months for a psychiatry appointment. The reality in Boston and throughout Massachusetts is stark:

  • 3-6 month wait times are now the norm for new psychiatric evaluations
  • Client deterioration while on waitlists can undo months of therapeutic progress
  • Strain on the therapeutic relationship when you can’t secure timely psychiatric support
  • Emergency situations that could have been prevented with earlier intervention

When medication evaluation could help your client make faster progress, a six-month wait isn’t just inconvenient—it can be clinically concerning.

The Solution: Collaborative Psychiatry with 1-4 Week Access

Luminous Vitality Behavioral Health was founded to address this exact problem. I’m Dr. Ronald Lee, a Harvard-trained, board-certified psychiatrist offering:

  • 1-4 week appointment availability for new referrals (depending on mutual scheduling)
  • Telepsychiatry across Massachusetts with a streamlined online intake process
  • Active collaboration with referring therapists (with client consent)
  • Rapid response time to referral inquiries (1-2 business days)

My Credentials

I completed my psychiatry residency at Harvard Medical School, with clinical training at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital. I’m board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and licensed to practice throughout Massachusetts.

Practice Focus

My practice specializes in medication management and diagnostic clarification for adults (ages 18-64). I provide evidence-based psychiatric care while you remain the primary therapist—our goal is collaborative treatment, not replacing the therapeutic relationship you’ve built.

Important limitation: I am unable to accept Medicare or MassHealth patients at this time. My practice serves private pay and commercial insurance (PPO/EPO) patients.

How the Referral Process Works

Partnering with Luminous Vitality Behavioral Health is straightforward:

Step 1: Submit a Referral

Contact us by email at director@luminousvitalitybh.com or phone at (617) 841-3620. Please avoid sharing protected health information (PHI) via email—simply let us know you have a client who would benefit from psychiatric evaluation and provide the best way for us to reach them.

Step 2: We Contact Your Client

Within 1-2 business days, our office reaches out to your client to explain our services, verify insurance coverage, and schedule an initial evaluation. Your client completes a brief online intake form before their appointment.

Step 3: Appointment Scheduled (1-4 Weeks)

Most new patients are seen within 1-4 weeks, depending on scheduling availability. All appointments are conducted via secure telepsychiatry platform, eliminating travel time for your clients.

Step 4: Ongoing Collaboration

With your client’s written consent, I provide brief clinical updates and remain available for questions about medication management. You remain the primary therapist, and our collaboration enhances the overall treatment your client receives.

What We Treat

Luminous Vitality Behavioral Health provides medication management and diagnostic clarification for:

  • Depression (Major Depressive Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder)
  • Anxiety Disorders (Generalized Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety)
  • ADHD (adult diagnosis and treatment)
  • Bipolar Spectrum Disorders (Bipolar I, Bipolar II, Cyclothymia)
  • OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
  • PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

Our approach combines medication management with brief supportive therapy, but the primary therapeutic relationship remains with you, the referring therapist. This collaborative care model produces better outcomes than either treatment modality alone.

Frequently Asked Questions for Therapists

How do I refer a client?

Email director@luminousvitalitybh.com or call (617) 841-3620. Avoid including PHI in email communications. Simply indicate you have a referral and provide the best way to reach your client.

What insurance do you accept?

We accept most commercial PPO and EPO insurance plans. Many patients receive 60-80% reimbursement through out-of-network benefits when we provide a superbill. Unfortunately, we cannot accept Medicare or MassHealth at this time.

Do you communicate with referring therapists?

Yes, with client consent. After obtaining written authorization, I provide brief updates about medication changes, diagnostic clarifications, and response to treatment. I value the collaborative care model and recognize that you have the longitudinal relationship with the patient.

What’s your typical response time?

I respond to referral inquiries within 1-2 business days. Once a referral is made, we typically contact the client within that same timeframe to begin the intake process.

Can you see Medicare or MassHealth clients?

Unfortunately, no. This is a significant limitation of my practice, and I recognize it prevents me from serving many patients who need care. My practice currently only accepts private pay and commercial insurance (PPO/EPO plans).

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

Yes. Unlike some psychiatric practices, I do prescribe stimulants for ADHD and benzodiazepines when clinically appropriate. I follow evidence-based prescribing guidelines and Massachusetts controlled substance regulations.

What ages do you treat?

I treat adults ages 18-64. My practice focuses on working-age adults who are comfortable with telepsychiatry.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

All appointments are conducted via secure telepsychiatry. This allows me to serve clients throughout Massachusetts regardless of their location and eliminates travel time for your busy clients.

Ready to Partner?

If you’re a Massachusetts therapist seeking a collaborative psychiatry partner who values timely access and clear communication, I’d welcome the opportunity to work together.
